Die L\u00f6sung? Over-the-Air-Updates. Mit der steigenden Zahl von IoT-Ger\u00e4ten, die im Jahr 2030 \u00fcber 32 Milliarden erreichen soll (Quelle: Statista), steigt auch das Potenzial f\u00fcr Sicherheitsrisiken exponentiell. Ein bekanntes Beispiel ist das Mirai-Botnet. Dabei wurde zum Beispiel versucht Router und \u00dcberwachungskameras zu infizieren, indem es Standardpassw\u00f6rter und Sicherheitsl\u00fccken ausnutzte.  Es wurde 2016 bekannt, als es durch DDoS-Angriffe gro\u00dfe Websites wie Twitter, Netflix und Dyn lahmlegte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Die gro\u00dfe Herausforderung \u2013 Warum IoT-Patching komplex ist<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Das Warten von IoT-Ger\u00e4ten stellt oftmals eine erhebliche Herausforderung dar, da die Ger\u00e4te meist \u00fcber den Globus verstreut in kundenspezifische Umgebungen integriert sind. Viele dieser Ger\u00e4te besitzen nur begrenzte Rechenleistung oder Speicher, was automatische Updates erschwert, w\u00e4hrend veraltete Protokolle und fehlende Verschl\u00fcsselung zus\u00e4tzliche Sicherheitsrisiken schaffen. OTA-Patching) bieten eine automatisierte Verteilung von Firmware, Patches oder neuen Funktionen unabh\u00e4ngig vom Standort direkt an die Ger\u00e4te. Zus\u00e4tzlich gibt es oftmals direkt integrierte Rollback-Mechanismen, um bei einem fehlerhaften Update die rasche Wiederherstellung des vorherigen Zustands zu gew\u00e4hrleisten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durch dies entstehen erhebliche Vorteile in Bezug auf Dauer eines Update-Zyklus. Patches k\u00f6nnen innerhalb von Stunden oder Tagen f\u00fcr alle Ger\u00e4te gleichzeitig bereitgestellt werden, ohne logistisch komplexe Aufw\u00e4nde zu verursachen. Einer der wichtigsten Anwendungsf\u00e4lle ist die schnelle Reaktion von Herstellern auf Sicherheitsl\u00fccken in Netzwerkger\u00e4ten, die innerhalb k\u00fcrzester Zeit geschlossen werden m\u00fcssen. Dar\u00fcber hinaus k\u00f6nnen physische Wartungseins\u00e4tze eingespart werden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Must-haves f\u00fcr OTA-Software<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Bei der Auswahl der geeigneten OTA-Software gibt es viele Kriterien, welche beachtet werden m\u00fcssen. Von Sicherheit \u00fcber Systemgrenzen bis zu Betriebsfunktionen sollte die Software einige Anforderungen erf\u00fcllen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Security-by-Design<\/strong>: Sicherheit wird von Beginn an mitgedacht. Dazu z\u00e4hlen verschl\u00fcsselte Daten\u00fcbertragung, Zugriffskontrollen, kontinuierliche Sicherheitspr\u00fcfungen und regelm\u00e4\u00dfige Updates der OTA-Infrastruktur.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Zero-Trust-Architektur<\/strong>: Ein Sicherheitskonzept, dass grunds\u00e4tzlich keinem Ger\u00e4t oder Benutzer vertraut \u2013 jede Kommunikation und Aktion wird \u00fcberpr\u00fcft und verifiziert. Dies minimiert das Risiko interner und externer Angriffe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Zertifikatsbasierte Authentifizierung<\/strong>: Nur eindeutig identifizierte und autorisierte Ger\u00e4te d\u00fcrfen Updates empfangen.
